![]() Gloucester Point Rotary Club president Karen Kovacs, Gloucester High School career coach Katie Zanette and Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce executive director Makalia Records, from left in the photo, were invited to present at the Career Coach Academy on September 17 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. Participants learned how Gloucester High School, the Gloucester Point Rotary Club, and the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce work together to recruit professionals from the business community to act as student mentors. The Job Shadow and Mentoring Program at GHS coordinated by Zanette is intended to provide students with a meaningful learning experience outside of the classroom with the guidance of professionals currently working in their career field. Fifty participants learned about how local Rotary clubs and businesses may be a resource for youth and vocational programs in schools. The conference theme was “Moving Forward Together – Strengthening Virginia’s Workforce.” |
